Datacenter Hardware & Storage Specialization
Full-rack decommissioning, done by people who've run the racks.
Server rooms and data centers aren't simply larger versions of an office equipment refresh. They contain rack-mounted servers, shared storage, networking equipment, and interconnected systems where dependencies matter.
Vitana360 brings the technology and operational experience to decommission these environments thoughtfully and securely—from the initial site assessment and inventory through planning, equipment removal, data destruction, responsible disposition, and final documentation and certification. We understand that shutting down a data center isn't just about removing equipment. It's about knowing what you're disconnecting, what data it contains, what needs to be preserved or destroyed, and making sure nothing gets overlooked along the way.
What We Decommission
Enterprise infrastructure, not just endpoints
Servers & blade chassis
Rack, tower, and blade servers pulled, logged, and sanitized down to every internal drive.
SAN, NAS & storage arrays
Shared storage decommissioned drive-by-drive — a rebuilt array can still expose data if a single disk is missed.
Networking hardware
Switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers wiped of configuration data and credentials before recycling.
Racks & enclosures
Full cabinet teardown, including rails, PDUs, and cabling, with the space left ready for its next use.
Backup tape libraries
Tape autoloaders and individual cartridges degaussed and destroyed to NIST Purge standard.
UPS & power infrastructure
Backup batteries and power distribution units removed and recycled in compliance with hazardous materials handling.
Built For Enterprise Environments
How a datacenter project runs
Site assessment
We walk the room or review your asset list remotely to scope rack count, storage volume, and any live-system dependencies before a date is set.
Asset tagging & chain of custody
Every server, drive, and card is logged against serial number before it leaves the room, so nothing is unaccounted for at reconciliation.
Rack-and-roll logistics
Equipment is pulled, palletized, and transported under sealed chain of custody — scheduled around your maintenance windows, not the other way around.
On-site or facility sanitization
High-sensitivity environments can have drives sanitized or shredded on-site before anything is transported, or processed at our facility — your call.
Responsible recycling
Reusable components are recovered; everything else is processed under our R2 and RIOS-audited recycling standards.
Frequently Asked
Datacenter decommissioning, answered
Can equipment be sanitized on-site instead of at your facility?
Yes. For high-sensitivity environments, drives can be sanitized or physically shredded on-site before anything leaves the building, with the same documentation you'd get from facility processing.
How do you avoid missing a drive in a RAID array or SAN?
Every drive is pulled and logged individually against its own serial number rather than treating the array as a single unit — a rebuilt array can still expose data if even one disk was skipped.
Do you work around live production systems during a decommission?
Yes. Projects are scoped and scheduled around your maintenance windows, and dependencies on still-active systems are identified during the site assessment before any equipment is touched.
What happens to networking equipment like switches and routers?
Configuration data and stored credentials are wiped before the hardware is recycled — network gear holds sensitive information just as often as a server does.
